I was introduced to puzzle rings in my teens. Friends showed me their rings, and soon I figured out the solution. I learned that a pilot in World War II had flown out of Egypt, and was introduced to the puzzle ring at the hotel where the pilots stayed. His name was Jose Grant. After the war, he was the pilot for the King of Saudi Arabia for several years. He came back to the states to fly for TWA. He sold rings out of his home, and to the crews on his flights.

Looking back after my college years, I knew that the puzzle rings had been a great addition to my life, and an important part of my friends' lives too. It was easy to conclude that selling puzzle rings would bring joy to others as well. The problem was learning to make them. It was mainly trial and error, as it is an unknown art in this country. Developing the techniques took years, but now with 40 years of experience, I have mastered creating the puzzle ring.

I live not far from my shop in Berkeley, so commuting is no problem. I have been making the rings at this location since 1984. Visitors are welcome, but is best to call first. I'm away a lot on weekends as I sell at many shows which are far away. The best time to reach me is during the week Monday through Thursday.

Mastering the puzzle ring assembly is challenging, but the instructions I have posted on this site make learning much easier than it has ever been. There are video instructions as well as animations. And once you know the trick, it is easy to do. Owning a puzzle ring is lots of fun. You know the trick and others do not. You get to be the expert, and to teach others. You get to be the magician.
